Childhood... and some more natural light :)

We went fishing this afternoon and I was hoping to take some photos of the rope swing over the stream that has always been "THE" place to be in the summer. Unfortunately the whole tree fell in the stream. I'm sure that someone will rig up a new one soon!

...and the sun was going down so I was inspired by that site that Cherie posted with all those great shots using sunlight. I clearly have a looooooooooooooong way to go if I ever want to have a smidgen of the skill that woman clearly has when it comes to using sunlight as a 'prop.' But the learning is half the fun :)

These pics also represent childhood ...to MY kids anyway ;) A HUGE part of their childhood is having a camera in their face...lol!!

Natural Light

After reading that one of the next 3 weeks challenges was a natural light challenge, I headed upstairs to take a shower. As I passed by Sean's room I noticed how PERFECTLY the light was hitting him as he droned out to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ;) So I had to run back downstairs, grab my camera and torture him for a little while....

Challenge #3

Challenge #3
******** BOKEH / DEPTH OF FIELD***********

Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light. Bokeh is different from sharpness. Sharpness is what happens at the point of best focus. Bokeh is what happens away from the point of best focus. Bokeh describes the appearance or "feel" of out-of-focus backgrounds and foregrounds.

Here are my shots. I took these last week. I am limited to close up shots for this challenge because my camera is a glorified P&S and I can't get that good blur that you can with a DSLR unless I am close up and use the zoom.

Suggestions taken ;)

OK.... Now I wish I hadn't already ordered pics because I am never going to use that 'plain old pic' I took ;) I think I like the one with Kristina's Color Pop action best. I think.

Challenge #2

This weeks challenges are....
  • lines, angles color & texturelines:look for lines when you take pictures they help lead the eye through a photo.
  • angles:use different ways to angle your camera or postion your body. by postioning your body you can give perspective of a scene.
  • color and texture: old barns , weathered wood, funky colored buildings....look for things that stand out in a scene.try one of these or as many of these in your photos this week as you like.have fun!

My "Lines" photo. I LOVE how this came out! I was in a dark dark tunnel in Fort Knox, I used the flash and crossed my fingers ;) You can't see them, but right about where the darkness starts there are LOTS more kids! I am glad they didn't get into the photo!

My perspective photo. I didn't get the exact effect I was seeking, but it's close. I wanted to show the huge size of Fort Knox and make Sean look tiny in comparison, so I sat on the ground looking up. There is a flag on top that I just couldn't get into the photo and I really wanted to, but didn't have time to keep messing with the shot. I think I should have gotten closer to him and maybe laid down.

And last but not least... my texture/color photo :) Not a whole lot to say about this one. But I like it :) I even ordered a print of it to frame alongside some other pics from the beach that day!
